Event review - WSBK Estoril 2025

We return to stunning Estoril!

Alway our favourite destination when MotoGP ran here, it's return to international racing in WorldSBK was met with joy!

We stay in stunning Cascais at a lovely boutique hotel right in the heart of the town.

Our opening drinks Thursday took place at the legendary O'Neill's Irish bar - a venue that saw many pints lifted during MotoGP days!

Friday we re-acquainted ourselves with this historic circuit, meeting our sponsored SSP300 rider, Australian Carter Thompson. We also met our new friend, American racer in the bLUcRU R3 Cup, Chris Clark.

Chris and his family as well as the famous SBK announcer Michael Hill joined us for a brilliant Portugese dinner Friday.

Carter took 2nd in the SSP300! Chris had a bit of trouble early in the race and sadly finished outside of the points; but still clinging to his 2nd place in the championship.

Saturday evening, our small group found a brilliant literal 'hole in the wall' Italian/pizzeria taking nearly ever seat in the microscopic restaurant. We were treated like kings in thie ever-friendly town!

Sunday the racing was sensational. Our Carter WON the SSP300 race - putting him ust a few points from the world championship with just one round to go!

Chris unfortunately crashed, costing him 2nd overall but still as a rookie finishing 3rd in the championship was a great achievement. We offered to give him a small sponsorship for 2026.

The Superbike races were exciting, if predictable. We were reminded what a dominant force Toprak is, but Bautista and Bulega were not giving up, with the three of them on every podium.

Our boys with Bimota were also very consistent, with Alex taking 6th in both races, 5th in the superpole; and Axel doing 11th in both, 10th in SP. This bodes will for next season!

We closed the lovely Estoril weekend at a superb seafood restaurant overlooking the harbour. And of course final drinks in our favourite local pub!

A couple of us jumped in the van Tuesday and drove the Jerez for the next chapter of the 2025 SBK closing! But that's another story!
